They say it always rains in Wales and this time wasn't an exception, but even with the rain, wind and cloudy sky Wales is beautiful. I actually think the grey and wet weather kind of suits the beaches and green hills of this country.
We stayed in Llandudno, a very pretty little town in the north of Wales; we walked at the sea side, and took the cable-hauled tram to the summit of the Great Orme and enjoyed the amazing views over the town, the sea and the surrounding hills. From Llandudno we also cycled to Conwy and Rhyl. There are good traffic free cycle tracks from Llandudno to both of these places following the coast line (national route 5). My favourite trip was definitely the one to Conwy, where we saw the Conwy Castle and The Smallest House of Great Britain, very cute, the views are breathtaking.
I have to admit that I'm still very tired from all the cycling but it was totally worth it. Next weekend it'll have to be a lazy one :P
O País de Gales estava há muito tempo na minha lista de lugares a visitar e no fim de semana passado finalmente consegui fazê-lo.
Diz-se que chove sempre em Gales e desta vez não foi exceção, mas mesmo com chuva, vento e céu nublado Gales é lindo. Acho até que o tempo cinzento e molhado combina com as praias e montes verdes deste país.
Ficámos em Llandudno, uma vila muito bonita no norte de Gales; passeamos à beira mar, e fomos de comboio (um pequeno comboio puxado por um cabo) até ao topo de Great Orme e deliciamo-nos com a vista sobre a vila, o mar e as montanhas em redor. De lá partimos também de bicicleta para Conwy e Rhyl. Há ciclovias livres de tráfego desde Llandudno para ambos os locais (national route 5), seguindo a linha da costa. Adorei especialmente o passeio até Conwy, onde vimos o Conwy Castle e The Smallest House of Great Britain (a casa mais pequena de Grã-Bretanha), muito gira, e as paisagens são deslumbrantes.
Tenho que admitir que ainda estou muito cansada de tanto andar de bicicleta mas valeu a pena. O próximo fim de semana terá de ser bem preguiçoso :P
