Sandwiching...

The wadding for these quilts has arrived. I have spent a good few hours sandwiching them all and now it's just a matter of getting started...
I will be hand-quilting two of these quilts (this one, and this one), wish me luck :), but the one I'm making for my sister will be machine-quilted.


O enchimento para estes quilts chegou. Passei algumas horas a colocar os três layers juntos e agora é só uma questão de pôr mãos à obra...
Vou acolchoar à mão dois destes quilts (este e este), desejem-me sorte :), mas o quilt que eu estou a fazer para minha irmã vai ser acolchoado à máquina.

Beautiful flower prints

I have put together these beautiful flower prints for a throw size quilt, and I am in love with them. The pattern is simple, 6 by 6 10"1/2 squares. I'm thinking of hand quilting it and maybe I will quilt this one ahead of the one-thousand-and-eighty-nine-hexagon-quilt, because it's much smaller and simpler to start with. 


Juntei estes estampados florais para um quilt, e estou apaixonada. É um quilt simples, de 6 por 6 quadrados de 25cm. Estou a pensar em fazer o acolchoamento à mão, e talvez o faça primeiro do que o one-thousand-and-eighty-nine-hexagon-quilt, porque é muito mais pequeno e simples para me estrear em hand quilting.

One-thousand-and-eighty-nine-hexagons quilt : Progress [3]

I have hand sewn all the hexagons together and the front of this quilt is all complete. It turns out the 1089 hexagons weren't quite enough, I had to add a few more and now I count 1320 hexagons. Although this stage is complete, my work isn't even half done, on the contrary. The challenging part will be hand quilting it. I have never done any hand quilting before and I imagine it won't be an easy thing to do. The smart thing would have been starting with a small project, but no, that would be too sensible for me. Instead I decided that on my first attempt of hand quilting I'd just go for a queen size quilt! Well, I won't mind if it isn't perfect, as long as the 3 layers are secure together I'll be happy :P


Já cosi à mão todos os hexágonos e a parte da frente deste quilt está completa. Afinal, os 1089 hexágonos não foram suficientes, tive que adicionar mais uns quantos e agora conto 1320 hexágonos. Apesar desta fase estar completa o meu trabalho não está sequer a meio, pelo contrário. A parte difícil será fazer o acolchoamento à mão. Nunca fiz hand quilting e imagino que não será tarefa fácil. Teria sido inteligente da minha parte se tivesse começado com um projecto pequeno, mas não, isso seria muito sensato para mim, em vez disso decidi começar com um queen size na minha primeira tentativa de fazer um quilt à mão! Não faz mal, não me importo se não ficar perfeito, desde que os 3 layers fiquem bem seguros juntos fico contente :P

Little quilt [2]

I'm so happy with this quilt :) I was afraid the prints I chose were going to make the quilt too dark for a baby but I think it turned out really pretty. I'm really excited to give this one :)

Estou tão contente com este quilt :) Confesso que estava com medo de que os estampados que escolhi fossem tornar o quilt demasiado escuro para um bebé mas agora que está pronto acho que ficou muito giro. Estou mesmo entusiasmada para dar este quilt de presente :)

Little quilt [1]

I'm making a quilt for a baby boy that is going to be born in June. It's a small quilt of 40 by 50 inches, and not surprisingly is coming along quite quick. More soon.


Este quilt que estou a fazer é um presente para um menino que vai nascer em Junho. É um quilt pequeno de apenas 1m por 1,25m e está a sair-se bem rápido de fazer. Mais brevemente.
