Crochet phone cases

I've been wanting to learn about crochet for quite some time but it seems that I can never actually find the time to do it.

Thanks to my mum, who taught my sisters and I a little bit of crochet and knitting when we were children, I was able to make these phone covers, but that's about all I know.

I won't make it my new year's resolution because I never get to follow through with those, but it's definitely on my list of things to learn.

Já há algum tempo que quero aprender a fazer croché, mas parece que nunca arranjo tempo para o fazer.
Graças à minha mãe, que me ensinou a mim e às minhas irmãs um bocadinho de croché e tricô quando éramos crianças, fui capaz de fazer estas bolsas para telemóvel, mas isto é tudo o que eu sei.
Não vou fazer disso a minha resolução de ano novo porque eu nunca as chego a concretizar, mas está definitivamente na minha lista de coisas para aprender.

One-thousand-and-eighty-nine-hexagons quilt

As some have said, I may be mad. The one-thousand-and-eighty-nine-hexagons are going to be part of a king size bed quilt that I intend to make all by hand. Hence why I should definitely be mad, because I don't think I'm going to be able to finish it before 2030 :P I'm still working on a couple of other quilts, and I'm afraid I'll actually get bored half way trough this one but I'm going to give it a try. We'll see!

Como alguns já disseram, eu não devo estar muito bem da cabeça. Os mil-e-oitenta-e-nove-hexágonos vão ser parte de um king size quilt que pretendo fazer todo à mão. Daí o porquê de eu dever estar definitivamente doida, uma vez que eu não sei se vou ser capaz de o terminar antes de 2030 :P Ainda estou a meio de outros quilts e tenho receio de me fartar deste a meio mas vou arriscar mesmo assim. Veremos!

Brigadeiros

I have been making brigadeiros  for years and I never tire of them. I love them :). They are also unbelievably easy to make. If you're a fan of chocolate and you haven't done so yet, try them. You won't regret it.

Ingredients

1 can of condensed milk
60g cocoa powder
2 tablespoons milk
30 g butter
Lots and lots of chocolate sprinkles
Oil

Method
In a saucepan, mix the milk with the chocolate powder and the condensed milk. Add the butter and put it over a low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture starts to pull away from the bottom of the pan.
Pour the mixture in a bowl previously greased with oil, to prevent it from sticking to the bottom and leave it to cool down. When its temperature allows, make little balls with your hands (greased with oil), and roll each one of them in the chocolate sprinkles.
Place them into paper cases and serve cold.
Voilà!


Há anos que faço brigadeiros e nunca me canço deles. Adoro :) São também inacreditavelmente fáceis de fazer. Se ainda não provaste e se és fã de chocolate experimenta. Não te vais arrepender.

Ingredientes
1 lata de leite condensado
60g de chocolate em pó
2 colheres de sopa de leite
30 g de manteiga
Montes e montes de chocolate granulado

Óleo


Preparação
Num tacho, mistura o leite com o chocolate em pó e o leite condensado. Junta a manteiga e leva a lume brando, mexendo sempre até o preparado se despegar do fundo do tacho.
Deita a massa dos brigadeiros num prato untado com um pouco de óleo, para evitar que se agarre e deixa arrefecer. Quando a temperatura da massa permitir, faz bolinhas com as mãos, previamente untadas com óleo e passa-as em seguida pelo chocolate granulado.
Coloca em caixinhas de papel frisado e serve frios.
Voilà!

I love this image for the memories it brings me. It's funny how we let the simple small things in our lives go by without giving it its real value. This was the view I had from my bedroom window when I was growing up, and it is still there, unchanged. I think I never realised how beautiful it actually is until I saw this photograph.


Amo esta imagem pelas memórias que me traz. É engraçado como nós deixamos as coisas pequenas e simples nas nossas vidas passar sem lhe dar o devido valor. Esta foi a vista que tinha da janela do meu quarto enquanto crescia, e ainda lá está, inalterada. Acho que nunca me apercebi o quão bonita ela é até ver esta fotografia.

I can't believe this quilt is finally finished! I started this quilt a long time ago, remember? But here it is all done! And I love it :)

Finalmente acabei este quilt. Comecei a trabalhar nele já há bastante tempo, lembram-se? Mas aqui está ele finalmente pronto! Adoro! :)
